Crossing Capital on foot poses risk
Since 2002, road has claimed eight
RALEIGH - Sandra Hicks does everything right. She looks both ways. She crosses on green. But even then, Hicks, 42, says she has almost been hit at least five times this year while crossing at North Raleigh's Capital Boulevard and Calvary Drive.Easy to see why.
Capital at Calvary is half a football field of asphalt from curb to curb with no crosswalks or pedestrian signals.
"It's not safe for the pedestrian," Hicks said. "And these drivers have a hard time screeching on the brakes." Read more...
